It can also be extremely effective in addressing ongoing conflict, communication issues, emotional distance, or other challenges that they can't resolve on their own. Counselling can also help if a relationship feels stagnant or if you're going through a major life change.

Yes, all therapy sessions are confidential. Therapists are bound by ethical guidelines to protect your privacy. However, there are exceptions when safety is a concern, such as in cases of abuse or harm.

No, you do not need a referral.

Unfortunately, the mental health plan cannot be used for relationship counselling. It only covers Individual therapy.

Sessions typically involve discussing concerns, setting goals, and learning strategies to improve the relationship. In some situations, it may be beneficial for your therapist to see each partner individually as you work on the relationship.

The length of counselling varies depending on the couple's specific needs and goals. Some couples may only need a few sessions, while others may attend counselling for several months. Typically, sessions are held weekly or biweekly and last for either 60 or 90 minutes. Alternatively you may choose couples intensive therapy which is a block of therapy running over 2 days.

No, it's often beneficial to seek therapy early, before small issues become larger problems. Relationship counselling can help build a stronger foundations, improve communication, deepen emotional connection and prevent future difficulties.

We understand that life can be busy and unpredictable, but due to active waitlists for our therapists, we do require 24 hours’ notice of a cancellation so we can fill your appointment time. Otherwise, the session is charged in full.

Relationship Therapy delivered via private practice is not recommended for couples currently in domestic or family violence, or for couples where significant mental health diagnosis is current. These couples will be better supported through relationship therapy agencies such as Relationships Australia 1300 364 277 or Interrelate 1300 473 528.
